I have learned that all kinds of Black folks still believe our children deserve being beat to discipline them. And I have also learned that a lot of Black people still feel beating our children stems from a whole lot of years of being beat by our parents as slaves...to ensure we'd fear enough to not get the beating of the master. Now that Tyler Perry has disclosed his past abuse...people seem to be seeing this all in a different light. So the marks don't really go away huh people? So how are we going to make this situation better?
When I wrote the book "Beat Black Kids" I put all kinds of solutions in it. In fact, everywhere there is a solution in the book I put a little key next to the sentence. I want you all to read the book and see where I am coming from. I am happy to have some families already benefiting from using the book. Visit http://www.beatblackkids.com or just type the title into amazon's website. I'll put a lil piece of the book below:
Chapter: Who Are They?
Our children will populate the world in the future, as adults. There is no denying that. What kind of adults will they be is the question. As parents, we influence the answer. Will we put them in a corner or give them the opportunity to decide on something? Will they remember our beatings or will they remember our wisdom?
